Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Rumours have been around for a while of an Indian restaurant opening on the Lanes. I was very happy to learn today that the rumours appear to be true.

The currently unoccupied premises between RMVF and Harringay Foods is due to open as an Indian restaurant in December / January. About bloody time too!

I have heard the name Hornsey Park used before, but I'd always written it off as from the estate agents' wish list. In my experience, adding "Park" to the name of an area that didn't come by it through history, usually means there's not a bit of green to be seen.

"Hornsey Park" with a tree logo, is on the street signs, Hugh. It's in the mews.

Oh, so it's a Council confection.

The subject of "Hornsey Park" came up again here

Turnpike Lane, we cast thee into outer darkness: wherein shall there be heaping of Aloo Papdi Chaat, Hara Machli and Vegetable Manchurian; and much gnashing of teeth.

Abracadabra, I cast ye thereunto for time in eternity.

Certainly, Turnpike Lane was not Harringay when I was growing up.  It was Turnpike Lane.

Enough of this nitpicking. Jashan on the south side of Turnpike Lane N8 might or might not be classified as being on the northern border of the Ladder. It is still easy to visit and I think it's the best Indian restaurant in north London.
Well said Pav, aren't we (finally) lucky little bunnies. Remember the days when Bianca's was the only place in town - all of 18 mths back!

I recently discovered The Thali Thal,  a superb Indian takeaway on Turnpike Lane, the food is prepared and cooked in front of you in an open plan kitchen. I have tried it a few times now and its always been really good. Not greasy - fresh,  delicious, The best Indian takeway I have ever had by far.

fantastic- cant wait- turnpike is way too far- sorry 15min stroll out to eat is way too far- call me lazy, but them another 15min stroll back with a full belly- never get out that far

local green lanes with a stop over in one of the fine breweries we now have , before a short stroll to the local eatery, is way more satisfying
