Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Here's one for the local history nuts. I thought that the majority of the Gardens was built after 1906. I recall seeing a map of that date with Stanhope Gardens half built and as the only completed section. But the only post box in the gardens, several streets over, is a VR. Old stock?

This is a long shot - After VR died new 'Blank' post boxes were produced called 'No name post boxes' there are still many in use. These no name post boxes became unpopular with the public (?) who didn't like using them so they were fazed out. Perhaps this is the reason for the old post box being put in a new street ?

Hope this helps. This is from a house about 2/3 of the way up Stanhope:

Ah, I must have mis-remembered the date of the buildings then. I wonder which house number this is - we're about half way along!

What a brilliant account. I love that "again" in the first line. The legal equivalent of eye rolling. And nice to know we've always been deeply respectable round here.
