We occasionally get these young men calling round selling overpriced cleaning products. I'm pretty sure its a scam, although I wonder if I should be informing the police? Can anyone advise?

You're lucky it's only occasionally. Can't see what law they would be breaking, just say no
They buy cheap goods wholesale to sell door to door. They work hard pounding the streets trying to make a few quid but they have no training with regard dealing with the public as they are not part of a commercial company. In a way i feel sorry for them but i can do without the angry face when i say no.
These poor young men are certainly being exploited - might be worth speaking to the Community Officer if you can get hold of him/her. Unlikely there is much, if anything police can do but no reason not to make them aware.
Its a scam.. has been around in one form or another for 30 odd years. So you feel sorry for this ex-offender and pay through the noise for products you can get cheaper at local pound shop. Most likely young person is also getting paid pennies.
Always good to keep police informed, but I agree, I doubt they can do anything.
