GP Surgery Recommendation
Hi there,
I'd be interested to hear local recommendations for GP surgeries in the area - we live on the ladder. I have two young children (3 and 8 months) so ideally child friendly. I've looked back through old posts and nothing stands out! Reviews don't tend to be too good online either. We have been at West Green Surgery, but I have not been very happy with it and so wanted to try somewhere closer.
Any feedback gratefully received!

I've been with the Heron Practice for years - it's slightly out of the way (5 mins walk from Manor House), but the doctors there are great, and they usually give same day appointments.

Personally I'd be a no vote on the Heron Practice. I've had problems with appointment being cancelled without notice and I find many of the front desk staff very unhelpful. I've also found it very difficult lately to get a same day appointment. To see the same doctor more than once you have to book weeks in advance.

I agree with your comments on the front desk staff - they seem unusually miserable. The practice was recently refurbished; for the last 6 months the reception area was moved to the adjacent building, and was very cramped. It's much better now.
You do have to call early to get a same day appointment, but they are available. Even when they are not, you can ask them to pass a note to one of the doctors, who will call you back later that day and ask you to come in if necessary.
They also have a baby clinic for children - you can bring them in between 8.30 and 8.45 Mon-Fri and they'll be guaranteed to see a doctor.
