Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Now don't me get me wrong, I do actually love this cinema and use it a fair bit because you just can't get so many big screens easily anywhere else and I've got a soft spot for Americana but does anyone else notice how frigging badly run that place is ?

The 'green' neon light on the top has been broken for years. The programme poster is never lit up on the street. There isn't a clock next to it to help know the time. Many films have no description anywhere inside the building. Some weeks no one bothers to clip the names of the film to advertise them on the front outside. Sometimes they play the wrong film and everyone has to get up and pile into another screen just as they get comfy and endure a mass game of musical chairs ...

It makes me wonder if Vue are considering closing it down because I just can't see how any massive financial operation like that can be run so badly for so long.

At least fix the frigging light someone, without the self deprecating comedic 'green' attachment to the word 'Hollywood' wood green is left with just a giant 'Hollywood' sign which is wrong in so many ways ... Or are we stuck with the broken light because the 'green' addition infringes on the 'screen on the green' trade mark ?

I've only been once - never again.

The sound was so loud ( designed for teenagers already deafened by clubbing ? ) that I left with a headache after 15 minutes. I had a word with a staff member who had no idea what I was talking about.

The Muswell Hill Odeon is my favourite.

I went there once when it first opened 12 years ago and got chucked out for breast feeding my week old daughter so out of principle haven't been back since. Not that I hold grudges or anything.

Quite right too - you're not supposed to bring your own food in

Hahahaha! :-)

!!!! That's horrendous. Not too late to complain......

I complained at the time. They gave me a bunch of free tickets to say sorry. It was a matinee showing of Moulin Rouge, my Mum took me for a little treat. The reasoning they actually gave was that the baby was too young to watch the movie! ' but she can't even see yet!' it was upsetting. We strolled down to Cineworld who welcomed us with open arms.

It is a very strange place isn't it - all that underused space .. Personally the main thing that drives me crazy is that they and Cineworld always seem to show exactly the same bloody films. Can't really see the point in that.

I went to the Vue in Islington the other day and it's very similar in layout and style. Didn't notice whether the sign worked properly though!

My pet hate is the fact that they have integrated ticket and food sales - and I always end up behind someone who wants the most complicated arrangement of popcorn, nachos, coke and ice cream imaginable. It took 5 minutes at the last film I went to.
