Many people think snake oil selling is a harmless occupation. Far from it! The process of gathering snake oil was not so much a problem when it was confined to indigenous communities who collected it in the traditional way, respecting their ecology with offerings to the snake goddess Asasara. Nowadays however, large snake farms in China harvest snake oil thru tubes permanently fixed to the snakes' oil bladder leading to lifelong suffering. This practise must be discouraged and the first thing we can do is oppose imports of oil not produced under the certification of the Save Our Snakes(SOS) organisation.

Chines herbal remedies can be of real value to some people who are not helped by conventional treatment. If you wish to cast aspersions or make accusations of a criminal nature you had best have some evidence to back up your claim. If I were one of the shops you refer to, I would consider taking legal action against you.

Herbal - forgivable. TCM involving animal parts - no way. As they don't list ingredients, it's likely that much of it involves endanged species, or eg torturing captive bears. Not sure about plant-based products, I'm rather out of date re that world. [But I do have a rather excellent acupuncture success story to relate to anyone who will bear with me. ]

Still, I'd target the fried chicken shops before these, though.

Medicine."
