Hi there
Is there anybody else who currently suffers with Virgin Media broadband issues?
I mean people living on N4 or N8 areas.

We were really fed up with Virgin and after paying for wifi, tv and phone package for two years where one of the three was always on the blink, we ended up looking at which and choosing plusnet. We've never had a chance to test their customer services as the connection has so far (touch wood) never let us down (1 1/2 years of great internet connection). I would highly recommend them.
The initial installation was also very smooth unlike Virgin who kept messing us around and letting us down.
Thanks Hugh the isp review link is very helpful
I have two numbers for the local Virgin manager, Claudette... they're a couple of years old but worth a crack: 07816277205 and 01256752000.
Virgin operate the old Cable London lines which are much faster than you can get with telephone lines. The have issues with "power" in that as they add more customers they should add more equipment but seem to do it "on demand". Nobody can give you the speeds they "can" locally.
Yes. I have had terrible problems accessing anything through iPlayer. When I do get onto a programme it keeps jumping around and 'snagging'. Very poor service. 6 months ago a Virgin Media engineer accidentally cut off my phone line at the green box and I had no service for over 1 month. A lovely guy eventually turned up to fix it but Customer Services weren't interested in giving me any apology or refund for the time I wasn't able to receive the service
I think I have resigned myself to the 'life is too short' mentality. I didn't really fancy having an argument with Customer Services who were clearly not interested in hearing the problems I had been having. I agree that I should have pushed harder but I think I would have only got upset (& nothing more)
I agree Alice, it's seems to be a waste of time complaining as they are slow to act, unapologetic and you end up wasting time and getting annoyed. I've had no landline from virgin for over 2 months, I put off contacting them for the first month because it seemed more hassle and i hoped (stupidly) it was a temporary blip that would resolve itself. I ended up contacting them and had to spend 2 hours on the phone to explain the problem and book an engineer who couldn't come until several days later.
Canada Post is about to abolish its door-to-door deliveries. Customers will collect at local or central depots, like every other 3rd World country on the planet. A CP spokesman, Deepak Chopra (no, not the IMF's Deepak), explained helpfully that this will encourage "seniors" to get some daily exercise. Royal Mail will follow suit, I'm sure.
If this is the future for us snail mail devotees, why should Virgin Media addicts be mollycoddled by having ever faster broadband delivered to their tablets, laptops or smartphones? The future for Virgin/London Cable etc lies in the Internet Cafe. Social media is meant to be social, no? Anything that gets the buggers out of their houses is good for the race. Green Lanes Regeneration should aim for copper cabled public services in every Turkish restaurant, Betting Shop and Polish foodstore. Promotion of this exciting innovation is the only remotely arguable reason that I can think of for the continued existence of the GLSG .
Living on the Ladder, I've had BT Infinity for some time. It seems to be very reliable. In fact BT has been my provider since dial-up to Freeserve ended and I've never had an outage. ( Probably will this evening now )
So, my Virgin adventure today started with my calling to check what contract I have remaining and the cost of a TV and phone only package. In doing so, they suggested that I upgrade to the 152MB package which would cost less and give a much higher traffic management threshold.
This is my package right now:
Bundle charges total£55.75
Promotional offer(s) total£8.00CR
Phone line rental
Phone line rental total£15.99
I was also offered Virgin Business option. This would cost about £70 for broadband and phone. It would be a 50MB service, but you get an SLA which guarantees service within 24 hours. Interestingly she said that the business service runs on different lines which are much less 'conflicted' than the regular service. It sounds like you also get a better modem. With TV on top, my monthly total would be about £85.
So, that along with AA and Zen are in my back pocket, but I'm willing to give the cheaper upgraded service a try first.
All sounding good...I thought.....
.....then I lost all internet connection for three hours.
SIGH.
