If you are a EU citizen living in London, there are many reasons to register to vote here. On the 22 of May, we have the right to vote in the local elections and the European elections, and we should take the opportunity. Deadline to register: 6 May.
This year there are even more reasons to vote, particularly in the European elections. As Peter Fassoulas of the UK European movement puts it: "As an EU citizen living in the UK myself, I am all too aware of both the charged anti-immigration political rhetoric used by some and also the way EU citizens have been unfairly portrayed, sometimes even attacked and victimised. So it is important that we inform them that they can have a say in the political debate in the UK and empower them to make their voice heard by casting their ballot at the European elections."
For more information about how to register, go to http://www.vote2014uk.org.uk. Once you are on the Council's lists, they will give you the option of opting in to vote for UK MEP candidates rather than candidates from your country. I've opted to vote for UK MEP candidate and would recommend that to anyone living here for more than just a few months. This is a rare opportunity to vote in the country where we live, pay taxes, use services and in many cases, raise British children (like me).

Just want to add that it's not necessary to tell authorities in your home country that you intend to vote here. I mean, you can do that, but it's not a necessary condition to register to vote in the UK. This is particularly important for Italians who tend to think they have to first register with AIRE (register for foreign residents) before registering here, which often means they just don't bother.
Out of interest, can we register to vote in Italy ?
In fact, could an individual register to vote in ALL EU countries ?
I assume you live in the UK so no, you can't vote in Italy. This is about the rights of EU citizens living abroad. http://www.europeansabroadvote2014.eu
