New eatery Green Lanes
New Cafe restauranty thing being done up called Royal Istanbul my end of Green Lanes although my neighbour says 'its just another kebab shop' which may be true - however I spoke to the guy there and he said they will be doing full range of coffees and breakfasts - its on the site of the former gloomy Indian restaurant which got worse and worse and then sunk without trace. AT least it looks bright and light and cheerful now - unlike its former incarnation....its opening on Monday apparently - 7 a.m.!! I can get a cappuccino on my way to work!

Yes, that's up my way too. Let's see what develops. Is it just another 'cash economy' Turkish establishment that will survive on their continuous flow of fellow brotherhood. Or will it think to provide for the local population as a whole. I hope it is the latter!

Personally I quite liked Asia Spice although I admit I was a very irregular patron so perhaps it went bad.
The last thing Green Lanes needs is another kebab shop.

Yeh I know - like a hole in the head...(a kebab shope I mean). But I never ever saw another living person in Asia Spice when I went in - according to a chef friend its a v good reason not to go in to an eatery...its a bad sign about the cooking....

I too never saw a soul in Asia Spice and avoided it like the plague but it's a real shame not to have a curry house on Green Lanes. I really miss the Jasmin Tandoori. Jashan on TPL just doesn't do it for me :-(

Have been in for a pide- was really nice food (and only a fiver for the pide and salad) although no licence yet and a bit bright lights to be like a restaurant. No sign of a breakfast menu though...........

OK went in to look at menu...young woman(East European) looked at me like she never heard of a capuccino...eventually ascertained they have a machine on order... in a few weeks. Menu has veggie casserole ( I like Turkish veg casserole as it happens .. well in Turkey anyway)...clientele at that time- a few Turkish men and a chinese couple. There is a big chimney in the middle and the grill under for the kebabs; they do takeway menu; seating - flock covered benches(w tables in middle) by the windows. Decor cheerful.....ish. I will try the veg casserole soon, someone else can try the kebabs.....

Not sure where you mean as I dont remember a curry house on green lanes other than where the ladder is now-so please enlighten me,it miust have been a bad place
we use the curry leaf,west green road which is good,btter for take out though as not too comfy to sit in

Curry place was right up towards Turnpike Lane corner of Green Lanes and is it Frobisher(??) near the Queens pub ( looked in the window there yesterday - decor looks much better than previous gloom, comfortable seating)
anyway curry place closed and been done up and now is Royal Istanbul - see previous comments....
