Morning all,
First of all I wanted to say thanks so much for all the support around the Lordship Lane betting shop issue. Thanks to those who turned up last Friday, to those who keep putting the posters back up when Paddy Power reps rip them down, to those who have drafted letters and rallied support in their areas and to those who are strapping babies to their chests and getting local shops to sign the group letter today/tomorrow.
Whatever happens, I feel we have found a sense of community for Woodside - with some encouragement from our fellow ward Noel Park and I hope we can build on that going forward, revive the residents' association for Woodside, take on some more community projects etc.
We are entering the home straight in terms of objections so please if you have not yet written in please do so:
Licensing Team
Haringey Council
Units 271-272
Lee Valley Technopark
Ashley Road
Tottenham
N17 9LN
Or Email licensing@haringey.gov.uk
Mei Wang has drafted letters you can use - see attachments below - will also post the signature slips for bulk signatures.
I have just called the licensing authority we have until MIDNIGHT on 25th March so next Tuesday to send through representations (she said the date on the website was wrong) She said they have already received a lot which is great.
Anyone with petitions going need to send hard copies in.
David Lammy's office is also encouraging the local community to also write to the licensing chair:
chair of the Licensing Committee Cllr Ali Demirci.
I am planning to drop some letters off in person Friday/Monday so if anyone has some they want dropping off at the Licensing committee please message me separately and I will give you my address.

There are the signature slips if you can get bulk signings for shops etc.
Thanks

Hi,
I have sent an objection off to them by email this morning. I was reading through the personal response letter, there is reference to an attachment explaining the main reasons for objection in more detail. It might be worthwhile attaching that here too so people can send it in with their objection.
Sorry was being a bit dim...just found the information further down the letter!!
I really think that rather than a flurry of activity objecting to these places as they open (classic whack-a-mole) we're better off collecting evidence about the criminality that surrounds our current bookies. They don't report it to the police but sometimes those machines are smashed up, windows kicked in etc. We don't keep a record of this... we need to. There have been objections to new betting shops organised on HoL since its inception, not one has been successful. Good luck.
