Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Does anyone on HOL think it might be a good idea to twin with a flooded town and offer support to its residents from our unflooded part of the country? Just really feeling for those who have been flooded for weeks and will be facing months of upheaval and stress in managing and then recovering from flood damage. If there is support does anyone have any ideas about which town to pick?

What practical help can Londoners give because i can't think of any ? For your information there has been flooding in and around london. What happens after the flooding has receded ? (polite post)

A lot -  Solidarity for one - not everyone will be covered by insurance and there are still families waiting for insurance settlements from floods two years ago. Some will be in temporary accommodation for months to come and will have lost all their belongings and may have already been struggling financially.

We could make links with residents group there, fundraise, offer trips to Haringey for those who need a break from the stress of living in temp accom, but essentially ask them what they need and then see how we can help best.

Michele* With respect, you haven't put forward any meaningful or practical suggestions for anyone to run with. You seem to suggest that individuals on HoL twin with unnamed towns. Please explain how it will work and how after the floods recede what happens then. I know it's bad but nobody has died nor has the situation been officially declared a disaster. Surely there are more deserving places to twin with that really need help and that are brutally suffering in a more biblical way such as say, Haiti or Bangladesh ? I know your heart is in the right place

No James I get it. Just the gesture of "twinning" would probably be very well received.

OK, how do we go about this? They come to stay in my place in the summer and I get to go and stay in theirs? Do you know if any of them are running blogs?
