Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

I bumped into the guys who used to run the Neapolitan restaurant on Green Lanes (near Home Base) in 2011-2012. They told me they are about to reopen a modified version of it, right next door to where it used to be, and that it should open in about 1 week. I don't know much else....

Good luck to them this time around as well....hopefully they will do well and we will have a bit more variety in terms of types of food on Green Lanes.

Did they tell you the story? Why did they close and are now re-opening?

This makes me happy. Forza Napoli.

Thanks - i've been wondering about our corner cafe (we live just off Hermitage Road). Let's hope they can make it work this time, as they're really lovely guys.

Hugh, no I wasn't able to ask more details as we were in a rush but I know last time they had suffered from an increase in rent. From the outside it does look like it may be a bit different this time round - more of a takeaway perhaps, and with pizza.... I guess we'll have to wait and see!

Thanks Germana.

The sign outside says caffe', cornetteria, pizzetteria so i guess it will be a bar and they will also have sliced pizza (cornetti are croissant). I had a look inside and it looks like the guys made a very good effort, it's a completely different place compared to the former Borboni, much nicer!

That's good news, thanks Germana. Forza Napoli indeed! I really liked them being a bit of a spit and sawdust classic trattoria - I hope in being a "caffe', cornetteria, pizzetteria" they're not going to spread themselves too thin and lose their focus on what they're good at. But good luck to them anyway.

They've finally opened, yesterday the owner Gino was giving samples of his pizza outside the bar so I stopped by and he showed me the place and the products. They do a lot of authentic neapolitan specialities such as pastiera. pizza salsiccia & friarelli, pizza fritta, calzone. I only tried the pizza, they sell it by slice, and it was very good.

They have a nice italian coffe machine and an espresso is just 1.30, they also have alchool licence and serve some wines, Birra Moretti in bottle and tipycal spirits.

This is a REAL Italian place and definitely a fantastic addition to our high street, especially because I live around the corner ;)

Yes I was there today too - you beat me Christian!

It's pretty much like stepping into a proper Italian style "bar" (which is not the same as what you call a bar here - more like a "cafe" with alcohol licence) so it has coffee, soft drinks, alcohol as well as pizza and other sweet and savoury snacks. Quite different from what they did before, but in my view more likely to be successful in that location where people are more likely to be passing by rather than walking around searching for a restaurant. A great place to stop for breakfast in the morning and for a takeaway on the way back. There are also tables to sit down and a few stools for people in more of a rush.

My daughter and I had lunch there: two lovely pizza slices, a fruit juice, a sparkling water and an espresso - for a very reasonable £7. I would definitely recommend it. They also do free delivery apparently.

I love this place.
