I got a ticket on my road this morning, near my house. It was based on a sign at the Green Lanes end of the road, opposite the road works, which reads "No parking for 30 metres from junction." Now, unless you happen to carry a very long tape-measure, how is it possible to know how far up the road 30 metres stretches? It should read something like - 'from the junction to outside no..." People are still parking there all the time, so it obviously is not at all clear - they must be making a fortune out of fines.
I intend to contest it, but wondered if anyone else had got caught like this.

Be careful Phil. A labour council candidate will probably accuse you of racism
Maddy, the first thing you can do is check whether you WERE inside the 30m.
what is the roads name please
For people who haven't used it, Google Earth has a measuring tool. The icon is a ruler. (I've drawn a red arrow.) The yellow line shows thirty metres from the front gate of a house. Don't park there. (Google Earth lets you measure in smoots as well, which may save you from being arrested if you tried to use smoots on the ground.)
