We used Horncastle's and I'd NEVER advise anyone to use them - though ultimately I think they provided a roof which was fit for purpose they are very difficult to work with if any hitches arise and their customer service is absolutely terrible - the upshot was that the job was very long, very stressful and I wish we'd never contracted them, I could have quite happily have pushed them off the scaffolding many times during the job's duration!

(The reason we chose them was that they provided the most professional quote, and seemed, before the job started, the most professional overall (ha) but the job doubled in price from the original quote for reasons that they would I'm sure have been aware of when they originally quoted....)

I'd agree with that. I used them about ten years ago. They subcontracted the job. I had the same experience of customer service and I'm uncertain about the quality of the job they did.

I can highly recommend Richard Sheridan. We have had two leaks with water pouring through our bedroom and our hall ceilings in the last three weeks. Richard came the same day we contacted him and swiftly made our roof watertight again.

i agree with Gigi - and i have written about my experience with them, many years ago,  here on HoL.    exactly the same as this - they haven't changed their practices, although they do very subtly change their name every few years so any work they have done in the past is not with the current company and therefore they have no responsibility.  Beware everyone.

I recommend Lee who I found through the Bowes Bounds Connected website where local people recommended him. his number is 07981 403 026 - he was very reasonably priced.
