Burglaries update
From the police ward panel mtg last night;
1. burglaries on the rise at the moment
2. 70% of burglars go through a door
3. 20% through a window (the other 10%? Don't know: maybe through the chimney!)
4. SNT have a great 'free chubb locks' initiative avail to the vulnerable & elderly. If you know of such a person who needs a chubb lock fitted contact the SNT. They have already fitted dozens to homes in Endymion & Wightman Rds using a carpenter supplied by London Quadrant.
5. Be aware of 3 Eastern European men (one in his 40s, other two younger) going along whole streets ringing door bells. Suspected of casing an area for burglary.
6. Always ring the police if you think you see something suspicious; they caught a man red handed recently after a neighbour called the police.

There has been something lost in translation,burglaries are very low at the moment.
London Quadrant have only helped us with there own properties, other landlords have supplied lock smiths for their own properties and private owners have fitted there own.
The locks are free and are not just for the elderly and vulnerable but anyone without mortice locks. The elderly and vulnerable are a priority though.
