Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Hi Holers, Im thrilled and amazed to see plump green olives for the first time on my 11 year old olive tree in my tiny garden in N15 but not a clue what to do with them. Advice welcomed.

Keep the squirells off them - they ate what little i had on my tree. Depends if you want ripe or green olives. Black olives are ripe, green olives are not. They both need to be either marinated or pickled. link: http://www.bigplantnursery.co.uk/GrowingGuideOlives.htm

Thanks James, I prefer black but I don't think I have the patience to wait or skills to keep the squirrels at bay. I think I'll pick them today.

You lucky sod is all I can say!!!! 

I know! I'm gob smacked Anette! I had it in a pot but last autumn put it in a bed. It liked it. Harsh winters help fruition or so I'm told.

They cannot be eaten without being marinated or pickled (see link in last post) If you can't be bothered i'll have 'em
