Public 'sees improvements amid cuts'
The BBC commissioned a poll (ICM) asking 1,031 people whether they think public services have got better or worse in the last 5 years. They have acknowledged however that a few services (e.g. youth services) were not included.
The BBC suggests in summary that six out of 10 people think service quality has been maintained or improved. Maybe you agree re services for Harringay/Haringey?
Professor Tony Travers of the London School of Economics says the results will be seized upon by the Treasury as evidence that forcing local authorities to focus on frontline services can lead to an improvement in standards.
"Ministers are likely to use this poll to argue for further cuts," he says.

Scandalous of them not to have included services for people not allowed to vote. People will see this headline and not read the fine print. Youth services and EMA have been slashed.

And up by 200% pa for university fees, high rents, no housing for when they leave, ... if they find a job. For youth; 'the future's dim, the future's black' .... Add to that the OECD report finding that the youth of England trail the world in literacy and maths and you really got to wonder what the hells going on. But never mind, people are happy with their recycling collections (unhappy with their roads). WTF!
Don't think the BBC were expecting these poll results - they've possibly just handed things on a platter to the Tories.

Nothing about Children's services in there nor services for adults with disabilities. In fact, most of the services mentioned are the ones visible to the majority.

Yes makes you wonder why the BBC bothered. Here's their video report. As one guy interviewed said, 'I wouldn't know if services have got worse (etc) as I don't really use them'. However locally we see here on HOL that various folk are forever complaining about this borough's waste services!
