I was under the impression that we had something called the Presumption of Innocence.

Yeah, might be time for Harringay to send her a collective big hug.

Why have they done that?

Wow!!!

I am grateful to Stephen Moore for publicising the fact of this, but can I please implore HoLers not to comment on what is a live court case.

Good point Clive, but mostly the commenting has been on her sacking by "The Maximum All-Powerful Supreme Dear Leader".

Please do bear in mind Clive's advice. I spoke to a lawyer about this last night, will be erring on the side of caution and will delete any comments that may effect a case that's sub judice, and when they're brought to my attention.

When I heard about this yesterday I was surprised and saddened. I'm not completely sure what the offence is, but I'm certainly not rushing to judgement. Let's hear what happened first.

My personal experience of Cllr Canver has been positive. These must be very tough times for her and my thoughts are with her.

I've just followed up on what I heard yesterday and whilst I still can't say what I've been told, as I understand things right now, many of us may find ourselves having sympathy for her and what she did - but let's wait until the facts are aired.

Nilgun is due in court this afternoon and no doubt we'll hear the facts as presented in court by the end of the day.

Oh dear. Hope things work out. Nilgun has done a lot for Harringay Green Lanes.

Oh you muppet, it's Harringay. ;)

Ha! You swallowed the bait :)

I DON'T BELIEVE IT ..... When I popped into Blend last Friday and met Hugh and HoL's tame computer buff, as I walked out I caught a familiar face out of the corner my eye, none other than Councillor Nilgun Canver.  I stopped and had a quick word with her as there is a planning issue around the proposed demolition of the old 1864 entrance to South Tottenham Station.  For those who don't know me I'm one of the bods who's lobbied for the GO-B line for eons.

Imagine my surprise today at the front page of the Ham&High, that she had been in Court for Perverting the Course of Justice.  From a quick read I concur with Hugh and Alan and this was only a preliminary hearing so we should not go too much into the detail of this in any depth, BUT ........... She has (had to) resign her Council Exec Position, so we shall see what happens .....
