Sorry if the post isn't as dramatic as the headline!
Just a quick recommendation for the MH Baylis novel that was featured a while ago when it had a Big Green Bookshop reading. It's hugely enjoyable, mostly set on Green Lanes and written with a deep understanding of and fondness for the area. Aside from the story and characters, there's much pleasure in spotting local detail: restaurants, shops, cafes, even bus routes. I can't remember the last book I read where the London I know leaps off the page like this.
It's a real gem. Recommended.
