Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

The thread about Obergine being sold and the speculation about what kind of shop it will become, made me think about what kind of shops or restaurants I'd like to have on Green Lanes. What if we could choose, what would it be?

Friends of mine would like a Waitrose, and I used to want Pizza Express or an M&S food. But maybe a deli that sells wine, cheese etc would be nice too.

I'm very interested in what others would like, so GO!

Rob - snap - I was thinking a handmade produce/gift/card shop would be great - incorporating a deli selling good wine would make it perfect.

Or a little Waitrose - very handy for JL deliveries.

My vote is for a dim sum (or to the Aussies, yum cha) place. Cheap & cheerful is fine - like that one in Dalston on the high road whose name escapes me.
Aaaaarrrrrgggghhhhh! No more food pleeeeese! Would like to see a card & gift shop that stocks film, tv & music centric items in addition to hand crafted pieces. The walls would plastered with work by local artists/photographers; there'd be a space for a larger art installation, short films and slide shows, and as you browsed around, you'd hear music by local musicians. A shop that offers something different, and celebrates the artistic talents in our neighbourhood.
Sounds interesting but who would shop there?
Persons looking for cards and gifts. Build it and they might come...
No, you don't buy music, DVDs etc but items relating to them.
Yes. That type of thing. Recently I bought a friend's daughter, a budding filmmaker, a ceramic thermos mug with 'filmmaker' printed on it. She loved it! Would stock unusual gifts like that.

Sadly I don't think there would be market for that kind of film related product here or anywhere else, other than the West End. I suppose if they sold stuff on line as well then they might survive. Regarding cards, this sound like great opportunity for the likes of Moka and Blend, perhaps some local artists should enquire.

Not just limited to film, and there'd be a strong focus on local talent.

Anyway, just an idea for a wish list; but would be nice to see something else other than another foody outlet.
Tiger in wood green? I think it should move down the road to Harringay, it's amazing!

sounds like a good idea, but a different thread! This thread was for what food stuff you want :-)

I think we DO need more food stuff, but it has to be diverse and not more Turkish (much as I love it). The fact that we don't have a fishmonger is v. poor.

Hi, Yes, there was one, but frankly it was a bit poor. I think a higher quality more ambitious fishmonger would actually do better.

We've used and enjoyed the smoked fish stall the market, thanks! Would still love a fresh fishmongers though, both at market AND on the high street!
