Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

I'm sure many residents have noticed the inevitable traffic jams following Veolia lorries as they work their way along narrow Ladder one-way roads to empty the bins.

Would it be a good idea if Veolia operatives put up a temporary sign at the beginning of the road warning drivers that there will be 30+ minute delays while they collect the rubbish, so that drivers can avoid that road before they drive in and get stuck in the traffic queue - or do a fast reverse or 3-point turn (illegal) to get out of the road?

When the collection moves in to the next road, one of the operatives would go back to pick up the sign, and repeat the procedure in every Ladder road until their collection round was complete.

Just an idea.

great idea, I got stuck this morning on Allison Road.  You should speak with Veolia and let us know what they say

Thanks - if I can be sure that a few more residents think it's worth following through, I'll contact Veolia - if they can see the evidence for support on this site, that will be a good thing!

That is a smashing idea. please go ahead. caterina

Thanks - it would be good to have responses from some more residents on the Ladder, who would like Veolia to accommodate this additional action during their collection rounds on the Ladder to reduce the congestion at those times.

This is a wonderful idea and should benefit us all.  The operatives would even be able to take a little more time and care when replacing bins, closing gates, basically leaving peoples' gardens as they would like to find them, save alot of stress and bad feeling in the process.
