Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

The 8km tunnel between Eade Road Harringay and St John's Wood has just been completed.

Tunnel between Harringay & St John's Wood? What's this are the Johnswooders moving in? Is a covert new tube line being built?

Noop, as I reported in 2011, it's a National Grid electricity superhighway deep under London.

Tunnel boring machine (TBM) ‘Cleopatra’ has just completed half of the planned 32km of the London Power Tunnels (LPT) project.

The project is creating new routes for 400kV high-voltage electricity cables beneath the capital.

Cleopatra, a 400-tonne, 130m-long TBM, has carved a 4m-diameter tunnel from Harringay, via Finsbury Park, Camden and Regents Park to St John’s Wood. She has removed 250,000m³ of earth and installed 36,000 concrete tunnel lining segments.
