Preparations Begin for High Street Improvement Project on Green Lanes

Following the discussions on HoL last year, and again recently, we're finally seeing evidence of the improvement works on Green Lanes gradually begin.
Yesterday, I came across a bunch of guys with some equipment that looked like it was more than just a speed camera. Apparently they're scanning the shop fronts of those shops that will get the heritage treatment as part of the improvement works.
On completion, the scans will be rendered as 3D files and will be used to help the architects and designers with the design and development of the new shop fronts.
Although funds for this element of the project are necessarily limited, all shopkeepers on the Harringay stretch of Green Lanes were invited to apply. Those who applied and were successful will contribute 20% of the costs themselves.
I learned yesterday that amongst those who've been successful are both Erbiler and Ekas jewellers and Cheriee hair salon.
As the weeks go by through Spring we're likely to see more and more signs of the works beginning.

The vast majority of gigantic dishes on Green Lanes contravene planning laws. It's two small dishes or one big one, per house (not flat).

Yes, that's a good point, Rob. Not sure if anything can be done about private satellite dishes, but I guess a start could be made with the other stuff.

That is VERY good news. I'm amazed those gargantuan dishes are allowed to be there. I'd also be very surprised if even half of them are actually in use, more likely someone couldn't be bothered to take the old ones down...

i am a bit horrified at the thought of gentrifying Green Lanes :( Ive lived here on Green Lanes for 15 years and I quite like its hotch potch of different signs, shops and even dishes. I really hope they dont take it too far and that it end up looking like a generic flat conformist high st :(
