We also had good experience using Jeremy Sorrell (cwssolicitors.co.uk) for leasehold/freehold matters.
Try Terence St John Millett. They are in South Kensington. They successfully handled a difficult lease extension with absentee landlord issue for me and also for some friends. Solicitors do not need to live in the area to deal with issues in a neighbourhood.
You could also try John Martin at Barretts, Turnpike Lane/Ducketts Common, on
I have always found him approachable, polite, but efficient. Good luck.
I second that - John has done various work for me and has always been a thoroughly excellent chap.
Hi, I am a valuer who specialises in lease extensions and freehold purchases and therefore know many solicitors who can help, some good local ones. If you can let me know who your freeholder is I can let you know which solicitor may be more appropriate. Feel free to email me alison.stone@prickettandellis.com

Alison
We are just in the process of buying our freehold and used this chap who has been great. Stayed within very reasonable quote

Bolt Burden and John Martin are both good, I have worked with them both.
David Bristow of WH Matthews & Co in Old Street is very good. 020 7251 4942. davidbristow@whmatthews.com.
A couple of years ago we used John Baily at Rich & Baily in Crouch End, with whom it went very smoothly, helped by the fact that he had dealt with the freeholder many times over the years.
