Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

RSJs have gone up at the bottom of my garden, on other side of fence, into the shape of a building after assurances from workmen that no structure was being built. Up to now it has been (a) a garden wilderness (b) a car park) I am therefore assuming that this is without planning permission(I may be wrong of course?). Its at the back of a HMO at 646 Green Lanes next 2 block of flats Mountview Court opp. Rainbow supermarket. After a week of drilling and banging so we cant open our windows at the back and can't go out in our peaceful gardens several residents of Harringay Gdns have complained to the council. There are other implications for residents eg. safety and security ....Watch this space.

You should contact planning and report it. It can be stoppped if it has no planning permission. See this page for a few links.
Hi Ben - me and sev other neighbours have complained to the council, they are looking in to it. Complained to builders on Sat aft noon as drilling going on. They stopped. Got home from work tonight 7pm and building and noise going on. Men working in the rain. Tried to get through to noise control - engaged all the time. Had to go out. My neighbour reckons they are building it to store rubbish and old fridges!!! Says they were storing it at the front previously. It is in the long large garden of the HMO but the building abutts the back fence of my garden and is about 7-8 ft high and about 20 ft wide and 10 feet deep. I am afraid it could be used to scale into my garden.

Sorry to be a cynic, but I contacted the planning authority straight away after a similar structure went up next door. 1 year and a half later I am writing a letter of appeal to the national planning office in Bristol to appeal against my neighbours appeal against its demolishion. I have not confidence in Haringey Council and it's planning office just don't care. Time for a shake up.......I will not vote Labour again and I'm not really impressed by Lib Dems either..... so? Any wonder people voted Boris in :o(
If you voted for Boris... watch the transport infrastructure of London that Ken built up so fantastically well ........gradually go down hill.
Ken begun many great projects that lots of people don't know about... that have dramatically changed (for example) the way police in London treat domestic violence....now boris is talking about withdrawing funding already.. as domestic abuse is not a priority... be careful who you wish for....

But lets not talk politics shall we? Meanwhile I'm not holding my breath on this one - but the more people that protest the better and this guy is well known apparently for avoiding due process....
I voted for Ken. I went on a bit of a tangent there, after one glass too many of vino plonko. The planning process in Haringey, maybe nationally needs a shake up. I think that was my point :o/
Ah I see , well it happens, just don't start me on Boris if you can possibly avoid it... its not a happy sight.... red face.... apoplexy...not nice...
This structure has now been built - about 8 foot high and about 40 ft wide, backing on to the bottom of my garden and several of us complained to the council and to local res assoc and to local community police, starting several weeks ago. I gave them full details including the address of the property and its land that backs on to the bottom of my garden. In the first week I got a letter acknowledging complaint under investigation (ie whether structure had planning permission) and also several of us complained about noise of construction work, drilling, angle grinding etc.. Today both myself and my fellow householder upstairs got letters from the council, demanding to know whether we had built a structure without planning permission............huh??? duh??? I despair......losing the will....u know the rest...
Clearly the police helicopter overflew the Gardens, took an aerial view of the back, based on which the Council decided the structure was extending from your back garden, so you're the culprit. Kafkaesque, what?
