Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!
North Harringay judged ‘good’ by Ofsted - behaviour & leadership judged to be 'outstanding'.
Parents at North Harringay Primary School were today given the school's Ofsted report, following an inspection two weeks ago.
The school was judged to be 'Good' overall. The school was judged to be 'Outstanding' in two (out of the four) criteria - 'behaviour & safety of pupils', and 'leadership & management'.
The key findings included these points:
- Pupils show exemplary attitudes to learning and want to succeed. Their behaviour is excellent both in lessons and around the school.
- The school is exceptionally well led and managed. The inspirational head teacher and her senior leadership team are highly effective in checking and improving the quality of teaching and have the support of all of the staff.
- The governing body is highly effective and challenging the school to improve.
- Standards in English and maths at the end of Year 6 and at the end of Year 6 are improving year on year.
- The quality of the teaching and learning is good. Teachers give pupils very detailed feedback about their work and pupils use this really well to make sure they improve.
- The proportion of pupils making and exceeding the expected rate of progress compares well with schools nationally.
The report will be published on the Ofsted website, in the next few days.

Fantastic. Congratulations to all the staff, pupils, parents and the Governing body. It's really amazing to see our local schools doing so well. There really is no reason why we can't push for an outstanding education for all children locally.

Yes, it's a great school. As a parent one can see how hard the staff work and how stimulated the children are. It's great to have some "official" recognition at last. Well done to all the staff.

This is a very old thread, but I’m moving back to Harringay after a few years in Berlin, and we are looking at schools for my son. North Harringay is one of them, and I wondered how the local feeling is about it 4 years after the Ofsted inspection. Being away, it’s hard to get a feel for schools beyond quite old Ofsted reports. Have things continued to go from strength to strength? The other school that has space for him is Stroud Green Primary, so I’m wondering how the two compare. Any local insights gratefully received.

Donna, your post was quite timely as NHP had an interim Ofsted yesterday so keep a look out on the school and Ofsted's websites for the update. My two daughters attended NHP with the youngest finishing last July. I was a governor there for 8 years and finished my term last May. I havent been involved with the school since then and do not know the results of the Ofsted but I would expect it to be very complimentary. Since the last Ofsted the school has continued to go from strength to strength. A new head teacher came on board at least 3 years ago and she has been a fantastic asset to the school along with her very strong senior team. The staff are very committed and to them, every child matters. On a personal level, my girls had an excellent start to their education.
