Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Would anyone be willing to help tidy up any of the street planters in Harringay? I'd like to do more in the Frobisher Rd one this year, and others on the Ladder look like they could do with some help.

Sunshine Garden Centre helped with some community planting in Muswell hill  so i asked them if they could also help in Harringay and they sound interested. They'll be keener to help more if it looks like theres an enthusiastic group in the area willing to participate, so would anyone else be interested in helping with this?

Its also national gardening week on the 15th to 21st of April, i wondered if we could combine this with that and make an event of it?

What do you say?

Hi ant sounds like a good idea. On a recent walk along the passage I was thinking the same. I don't know if there's already a committee or group that looks after them. Let me know plans, especially if it involves a pint in the salisbury. Jez

Andy Newman of the Gardens Residents' Association  is also conjuring with something around the Chelsea Fringe. Worth linking in with him perhaps.

Sounds great! Count me in. Pity there aren't any planters on Burgoyne though.

If theres a bollard or parking sign pole nearby sling a tyre over that and plant in there...

Love it! What a great idea. I'll see whether this is a possibility on Burgoyne.

Soon we'll have more old tyres lying around the streets then veolia's purple bags.

Alexandra Burner I would! Would probably have to bring a small helper with me in the shape of my 2 1/2 yr old but she's pretty green fingered. I live on Avondale rd near the Salisbury. Alex

Count me in! A group of us had a go with the Mattinson planters a few years ago but they've got a bit out of hand too.

Personally, based on that experience, I think this only really works long term if someone very near keeps an eye out on the planter.

Hi Ant,

Sounds like a good idea - The may be a small chance that I may be too busy with work then (being one of our busiest times) but please keep me updated as if I can't supply labour, I could see if I have any plants going spare of lend tools etc.

PS where do you get the tyres from (and don't forget some crushed stone for drainage)?

Great idea Ant.

If you're about to spend money ie can't get enough donated plants, you may like to look at

http://www.dutchbulbs.co.uk/   who do wholesale rates for bigger orders.  We just did one for our new project at Page Green, have yet to see what the plants look like (21 day delivery time) but they are a fraction of the cost of retail, unless you grow from seed.
