Under threat? Long established Blockbuster in Crouch End, Photo by quite peculiar
Blockbuster Crouch End has been a feature of the Crouch End Landscape in one guise or another since at least as far back as the Eighties. The shop is now under threat as the Blockbuster chain becomes the latest in the lengthening line of high street casualties falling foul of Britain's internet shopping boom.
(By the way, what was Blockbuster called before it became BB. The name escapes me).

I'm just wondering how they kept it going for this long, no one rents DVDs anymore. Doubt anyone will miss them, they're not like HMV, are they..
I think people do still like to rent physical product and interact. The guys who work there know their films as well and are always happy to offer an informed recommendation. I guess to survive in the long term it would have to do for film what Flashback and places like it offer for music. I think the days of the corporate video store are gone.
There's a pretty good selection of DVDs ( inc Blu Ray and foreign )to rent in the local libraries.
Aww no way, i still use that store all the time for Blue Ray movies and Video Games... gutted, how about everyone goes in and registered for an account so they can see a rise in membership maybe we can save it that way. It wouldn't hurt for us all to rent a movie once in a while they are cheap, also if you have a blue ray player you should know that nothing beats the quality. come on guys support this store... i don't want to join there online crap that forces you to pay monthly fee's instead of just hiring a one off.. :-(
P.S i just phoned them to ask if it's true and they said that there is no official news just yet and they are waiting to find out.... :-(
Tweets earlier today suggest that Blockbuster Crouch End is one of the earliest casualities. Apparently they started selling all stock tock today.
That's so sad. The guys in there are so friendly and knowledgeable about films and having been renting from them for years they would recommend films that they knew I would like. Really excellent customer service. Hope if it does close then they find other jobs. Good luck guys. You will be missed.
