Harringay online

Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

aka Stephen Hook from Hook and son Dairy Farmers.

The Moo man is a documentary about Stephen Hook, a dairy farmer, and his unruly cows, and I wanted to share it with others cause it's so good!

In the documentary you see why Stephen decides to turn his back on the cost cutting dairies and supermarkets and decides to stay small. You get a little background info on what goes on at the farm, and how Hook and son tries to survive in a world where the majority buys their dairy in supermarkets.

I bought the dvd a few weeks ago and we watched it last Sunday. It's beautiful, sad and funny and I want to recommend it to everyone.

I spoke to Stephen today and he's going to the Sundance Festival this week, where the Moo man will have its world premiere. Because of that sales of the dvd have temporarily stopped, but soon you can view it in theatres and buy the dvd again.

I've been trying to get them to come to the market from January, but they are busy busy preparing themselves for Sundance. But after that Hook and son is coming to Harringay too with raw milk, butter and yoghurt from their cows Kate, Ida, Myrtle, and the rest of the 72 cows.

Cows Eat Grass.

Jobs have been lost for saying those three words.

i used to have a weeks supply of raw milk delivered by Hook and Son, but decided that the milk from Jersey cows is better than Johns Freisian cows. (Did you know new zealand has banned friesian dairy products, going a bit far in my mind)So i get mine from www.johnsjerseys.co.uk Lovely man, passionate about his cows. It stays fresh for the week.

just been on his website, it says he is not delivering milk, but if you scroll down you see that he has started again, he had a bit of a hic-up last year.

Just had an email from john, he is not selling milk at the moment but hopes to start again in Feb, and no you are right he does not do London markets, its a long way from Wales.
