Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

A reminder to everyone to be careful in ensuring all doors and windows are properly locked when you are out.

Our first floor flat on Umfreville Road was broken into on Thursday during the day when everyone was out at work. A laptop and various other small items, including a packet of cigarettes! were stolen.

We think they climbed over the fence and onto a flat roof outside our kitchen and then gained entry through the window. I am not living there at the moment but the people who are, think that the window locks may not have been screwed in correctly, otherwise there was no way anyone would have got in, bar smashing double glazing in full view of anyone in the houses behind.

The police dusted for prints but found nothing and said its the latest in a string of burglaries on Umfreville recently.

Ironic really, given my recent post enquiring about locksmiths and safes!

So sorry to hear this, I hope the police catch them and that you are not too unsettled in your flat.

thanks Sally. I don't think the police will catch them this time as there were no prints, but maybe if they manage to do it again somewhere (hopefully not of course), they will make a mistake and get caught.
