Hi.
This is a testing-the-water/blue-sky-thinking/other management-speak term idea. I'm just wondering if it would be possible. All responses to any of the points are welcome.
With all the research about how many children and families and others go hungry and/or are eating really un-nutritious food for various reasons, would it be possible to run a "hot dinners club" for people who wanted/needed it? I.e.: People could pay a quid or thereabouts and get a hot dinner made from fresh food in return.
In the ten minutes I've spent thinking about this, I've come up with these points:
1) Could it be run like a food-bank (i.e.: referrals from schools/social workers/GPs etc) or more ad-hoc (e.g: people just turn up - first-come-first-served maybe)?
2) Would people even want it or would it be seen like interference?
3) Are there other groups doing this (e.g.: FoodCycle does similar stuff)?
Before getting into nitty-gritty questions (e.g.: CRB checks, venues, advertising, funding etc), I thought I'd ask some more general stuff to gauge interest and responses and then think more about its development if it seems viable.
Thanks a lot!
Hannah
