Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Few weeks after the official opening of The Rec, I saw some of these geese with black/brown patches around their eyes. I've never seen these at the lake before and was obviously intrigued to know what type of geese they were. They turned out to be Egyptian Geese, that are normally found in East Anglia when in Britain. However, it seems they were officially declared a pest in the UK in 2009 (according to wiki). Pests or not, they are unusual and beautiful.

Oh wow they are really so exotic and stunning! I go to Lordship Recreation Ground most days, the rennovation has been a wonderful success!  Nice link John D, i live on Summerhill Road (so proud to have our own website!!) :)

These geese have been regular visitors to Tottenham Marshes for a number of years. Presumably they heard about the splendid changes to Lordship Lane Rec and decided to give it a try!

I wonder if they are called Egyptian geese because it looks as if they use kohl round their eyes ?

Maybe a bit like Tutankhamun himself as well?
