As you may know a group of residents in E17 has taken Network Rail (NR) to task over the vibrations caused by freight trains on the Goblin Line and the damage this is doing to properties. NR has agreed to set-up vibration monitoring along this section of the line and we are lobbying for the same in N4 with a view to getting NR to take action to reduce the vibrations. (NR actually carried out work to the lines around Kings Cross to reduce vibrations for the new hotel, but is seemingly not so bothered about people's homes!).
David Lammy and Cllr Browne are both supporting residents with this. We met with one of David Lammy's researchers last week and they are setting up a meeting for David Lammy with NR to discuss the matter.
At the same meeting we mentioned residents concerns about the Thameslink franchise and the consultation which is an issue David Lammy is already involved in (we pointed his researcher to the relevant links on HoL so they could get some insight into some of the views residents have).
Both issues were highlighted in David Lammy's latest newsletter (excerpt below).
In the next month David will be going door to door in the area to get further views from residents.

There are several 'iffy' sections of track, including an apalling 'wet spot' under Crouch Hill overbridge. This one is so bad the track bounces up and down under Overground's dinky little 2 car diesels. When the heavy freight diesels and heavy wagons pass the track bounces up and down under every wheel!
Most important to try to work out the exact location of the bad spots if possible, and note the time the train passes, and the direction - Up to Gospel Oak or Down towards Barking.
I don't know whether David Lammy has got confused, as Harringay Green Lanes station is not a potential closure case! The passenger growth since the new services started last year is incredible. Trains are packed! Is this an error where the concern is the Post Sorting Office, next to the W5 bus terminus by Sainsbury's.

I believe David Lammy is referring to Harringay station and not Harringay Green Lanes station in his email - this is certainly what we were talking to his researcher about (separately to the vibration issues on the Goblin line)
I am not aware of any proposal to close Harringay station and cannot imagine that it would be proposed, where did that idea come from?
Regarding the problems regarding freight trains between South Tottenham and Upper Holloway, I have been advising the Walthamstow residents about their problems on the South Tottenham to Woodgrange Park section and would be happy to advise anyone else. I have over 20 years local rail operating experience.
By the way, the hotel was the now refurbished former Midland Grand Hotel adjacent to St. Pancras station.

David Lammy may have got the wrong end of the stick. The worry is the level of train service in the future because of track changes, and the temporary closure of the To LONDON platform on some Saturdays and Sundays. With the hiatus over West Coast franchising, but that does not affect us locally, it will mean decisions on the Thameslink Southern franchise are delayed. See comments passim from me RicP, Arkady and Karen Alexander - councillor. We all sent representations to DafT and Lynne Featherstone had a mug-shot in the Hornsey Journal (now defunct), about it.
There is a Harringay Transport Forum coming up on 9 October, next Tuesday at the Civic Centre and, for once, local rail is being discussed. I'm going, so will have a chat afterwards about any issues. Haringey seems a bit vague on what is happening, and I intend to chivvy things up on this as both Harringay (West) and Hornsey stations need upgrade works to provide better facilities etc., and a better service too.
