Harringay Shisha Bar invites us all to drop by and chill out

The MeU Shisha Garden in Grand Parade is another of Harringay's slowly growing handful of non-restaurant places to have an entertaining evening close to home.

It's been recently taken over by Ahmet, who's keen to welcome all locals to come along and experience the friendly chilled out atmosphere he's created. 

Ahmet came to the UK aged 3 and is a Londoner through and through, apparently shouting himself hoarse rooting for Team GB over the past couple of weeks. He told me "I want to create a London venue here which blends Turkish and London cultures. Everybody is very welcome".

It looks like he's made a great start. The MeU Shisha is cosy and colourful and although it wasn't packed out when I was there, I dropped by mid afternoon which probably isn' the best time of day to visit what's more of an evening venue.  

Smoking a shisha when you visit isn't obligatory (If you're not 100% sure what a shisha is, it's flavoured tobacco, smoked in a water pipe). As an ex-smoker, I wouldn't trust myself! But the premises is fully licensed and there's a well stocked bar. So you've plenty of choice. 

There are also regular music nights, the next of which is tonight when there's a Turkish band playing.

If the welcome you get is half as warm as the one I was given, you'll be well looked after. Give it a go and be sure to come back and share your experiences.

(Oh, and by the way, there were two unequivocal votes from Ahmet and his staff member Mehmet to add to Diyarbakir's score on the Favourite Turkish restaurant's scoreboard).
