Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

I am currently preparing my appeal to Haringey Council about the primary school place they allocated to us for my son to start school in September.  Can anybody give me any background info or inspiration on how best to proceed.  Feeling very down and deflated about at the moment......

How can there be nine people in Haringey who are higher on the waiting list for SH than you guys? You're practically on the doorstep! I would definitely speak to the person in admissions about this - you never know there may have been a mistake somewhere.

Oh it's right alright.  I check with them about once a week.  We have been measured as being 0.2275 miles from the school, and the catchment area they quoted on the forms is now down to 0.1893 miles.  We are literally talking about a matter of yards.

That does sound completely mad, are you out of catchment for North Harringay? Sorry I'm not sure if there is any cross over now.

I have obviously been lucky having slightly older children, my son started at Chestnuts in 2008 and I think he could have gone to any of the 3 local schools, it's amazing how quickly they have all become over subscribed.

Good luck with your appeal and/or waiting lists.

I'm sure you will get there with the waiting list. Ok, maybe not before the start of term but you will get there. One day this will all be  a distant memory, and our boys will have been classmates for years! Keeping fingers crossed you move up the list quickly and not too many twixes get decimated in the process.
