VE Day Street Party in Beresford Road - From HoL's Gallery
The Big Lunch is a very simple idea to get as many people as possible to have lunch with their neighbours in a simple act of community, friendship and fun.
The folk at Big Lunch say that last year on one Sunday in June the best part of two million people took part.
In 2012 The Big Lunch falls on the same weekend as The Queen's Diamond Jubilee celebrations - on Sunday 3rd June.
A Big Lunch can be anything from a few neighbours getting together in the garden or on the street, to a full blown street party with food, music and decoration that quite literally stops the traffic.
Apparently there are a lot of planned street closures in Haringey for 3rd of June, but I'm not aware of any in Harringay.........unless you know different.
The normal £80 fee for street closures is has been waived.
The oficial final date for applying for a street closure was 6th April, but there may be some leeway on this. The officer responsible is Alicia McGilvery on 020 8489 1300 and the officer I spoke with today suggested that there my be some leeway if you act fast!
