Following Gökyüzü's expansion and scrub-up and now smart new Devran opening opposite, I noticed that Hala closed up for a few weeks from today for its own refurbishment as the battle for custom heats up.
Let's hope all their designs leave room for those smart new shop fronts promised by the Outer London Fund.

Anyone tried Devran? Seems busy, even at random times of the afternoon.
I am feeling guilty ..i have traded in Antepliler for Gokyuzu since they changed their chef. Goks £22 quid platter for two hits the spot...especially in these times of austerity. If you are a group of four or more then Goks can be up to 1/3 cheaper
Have to say it was incredibly busy across those two restaurants on Saturday night, people were queueing through the restaurants and out of the door. For all their fancy frontage I still find Selale to be top of the tree
cant tell you my fav as its already getting way too busy, and having trouble enough getting a table- dont want anymore people going there- lol
Anteps used to be the stand out ...Nothing compared until their chef went to the upper street outpost.I will try Selale although it will involve me getting a bus
Big shout out from me for Selale as well - the garlic sauce in itself is worth a bus ride imo!
We've been a bit dissapointed with Antepliler the last few times we've been, so have been trying out a few other places; went to Selale last night and had a cracking meal. Three different types of bread, cacik and salad comped, the food was as good as anywhere else in Harringay, but what really stood out was the service - very friendly and efficient, it wasn't hard work catching someone's eye and we couldn't have been made more welcome. Really impressed.
Thanks for all the useful comments - interesting to read so much love for Selale. I must admit that it has till now pretty much escaped my attention. This sounds like a mistaken omission on my part. Thorry Thelale.
Like you, Hugh, was not really aware of Selale before, probably because that parade of shops is somewhat off my radar. But funnily enough I did notice it the other day when walking up to Turnpike Lane. I'm a creature of habit. First it was Sofra, which we liked a lot. Then that closed down (it has since become the Bulgarian Village Cafe) and we moved a few doors down to Yayla, which has taken over as the place we go. They are very friendly in there.
its a really great restaurant, been there a few times!
i would recommend it!
More love for Selale from Icey Mark on Twitter last night. Since there's so much love, I've added a new Selale thread and copied the Selale comments above to it.
Might I 'umbly sugest that any further Selale comments are added to this new thread.
