On Sunday evening, early on (certainly before 8) my other half popped out for milk (and beer) at Lion King at the bottom end of Seymour Road.
On his way down, he saw a black man looking a bit suspicious, on his mobile phone, walking up the road as my partner walked down.
On his way back up the road, this man had turned around and was coming back down towards him, still 'apparently' on his mobile phone. As he shoved into him and tried to steal the bag. Being 6 foot tall and having spent 14 years in the Army, my partner wasn't as terrified by this as I, or many other people would have been and pushed the guy off and asked in less polite terms what he was doing. The guy apologised and blamed the fact that he'd just attempted to mug him on the fact that he'd had a drink.
Other half proceeded towards home and the guy tried again. I won't go in to detail about what happened, suffice to say the attacker ended up on the pavement without the spoils and probably wishing he'd picked on someone else.
I often notice some dodgy types around the Lion King, perhaps as it appears to be the establishment of choice for the one can a time buyer. But I thought it best to warn everyone to be alert in this area, I certainly won't be going out for milk any time soon.

Excellent advice. I always do.
Ah, I see what you did there - very good. Are you here all week?
That's awful Cara, sorry to hear that. As an often out after dark Seymour resident it's particularly worrying - will need to stay especially alert. How old was the guy?
@Alison, I'm not sure, I will ask the other half and post a more detailed description on here later. He is fine, the other guy came off much worse, but you don't expect to have to get physical just to keep hold of your milk and certainly if it had been me, I would have been a jibbering wreck.
This should be reported to the police.
