Hi there
We have a danish style arm chair that needs reupholstering. Any recommendations? (or tips if we decide to do it ourselves) Would need to be quite local or do pick ups as we have no car and its quite a big chair...
Many thanks

try Charlie Fox on 07976 160 343, he is based in Hackney but is often happy to pick up furniture
Hello Rachel
Just come across this discussion. I've inherited 2 sadly moth-eaten chairs from my father, with huge potential. They are both quite old - probably Edwardian. Did John Lawler repair similar ones for you?
Many thanks

A friend of mine has just started as an upholsterer and is re-doing all of my dining room chairs. She has done armchairs too (one was for sale in the Little Paris shop in Crouch End) and is very good. If you would like to contact her, her name is Hannah Barham and her email address is barham_hannah@yahoo.co.uk. She's based near Highgate tube but is able to come and collect / drop off.
Thanks!
Anna
Hi, I've used Karam a couple of times - they are reasonably priced and do things quickly, and I've been pleased with their work, but I've never been offered pick up or delivery! Luckily carrying ebay finds round to Hornsey High Street is one of my specialist skills.
I'd be clear about exactly what you want, though, as his English isn't great - it's a bit easier when his son is there.
I can highly recommend Gunce who is based in stamford hill. 07872569913
Thanks everyone, this is very useful, will let you know how we get on!

I used the upholstery shop in Finsbury Park (near the junction of Stroud Green Road and Ferme Park Road) about a couple of years ago. They were quite expensive but did a brilliant job and I'd definitely use them again. They've been there a long time.
