Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Just heard from a friend on Facebook that Palmers Green, Southgate, Winchmore Hill and Cockfosters are apparently likely to be targeted again. Shops, local businesses and banks in the area have been told to close early by the police and they want people out of the areas by 4pm! Not sure how true this is, but my friend's husband asked at the bank and was told they were all under advice to close. Apparently 21 on the Green was targeted today during daylight hours.

Sorry, guys, but it looks like we need to prepare for another night of madness.

A number of shops on Mare Street in Hackney have closed already for the day on police advice
Groups of youths apparently seen gathering in Southgate, and I thought they'd be in work today.....
no, selling stolen goods has very flexible working hours
Police have advised businesses to close early on Green Lanes
I wonder if this advice to close early is based on intelligence that there's an intention to kick off, or if it's really an attempt (legitmate in my view, I hasten to add) to impose a kind of curfew, get hunkered down and get the streets nice and quiet.
Sainsburys at the Arena centre already closed and the Big Green Bookshop up in Wood Green just twitted that he has been asked to close at 4ish by the Police.
Staff at Apex House said they'd been told of new trouble up in Edmonton. Were preparing to close early.  Heavy police presence up in Tottenham. Helicopter overhead.
Hackney, Lewisham, Peckham all deffo have trouble right now. BBC News channel compelling viewing.
Don't think it's 'compelling viewing'. It's really boringly predictable; youths hang around said street corners trying to look menancing, set fire to bin, throw a few missles at riot police (once they turn up), smash and grab at property (trainers, clothes, TVs, PCs & mobiles). The worse bit are the fires/arson (as in Tottenham, Peckham & Croydon). I did watch with interest the police bring in the dogs at Enfield and let the dogs chew a few teenage leg bones. The rest of the teenage boys decided to leave. Wise move; maybe they went home to their mummys.

I was watching some of the coverage of the rioters and looters in Hackney and later discussed it with a friend. He gave voice to a thought that had crossed my mind too: if this goes on much longer, consideration should perhaps be given to bringing in the army.

The police seem to be barely holding the line against the mindless rioters and if it spreads further, the police may not have the numbers to cope. I hope it doesn't come to that, but I hope equally the flatfooted authorities are making contingency plans.

Was just discussing exactly the same thing with my mum - how bad does it have to get before they're brought in?

It's been mentioned here too. Watching what's happening in Hackney live now, and I just want to cry. It's terrifying!
