Richard Wilson has just pointed out it's not a tank - tanks have big guns and caterpillar tracks.
It's probably an APC - Armoured Personnel Carrier ( which would be cheaper ).
This all seems very strange. I've been half following this post. It seems like most of us can't park illegally for a few minutes. Have you asked the councillors to have a look at this. John?
re: United Lodge Hotel - I've noticed at least two of the three silver estates parked at varying times in that forecourt. Usually it's just one, and the others are parked elsewhere (now that tickets have started to be issued on the ones parked in the bike lane). It looks rather like someone owns those three vehicles and is now having to juggle them in limited (still illegal?) parking space, in the absence of the bafflingly, formerly tolerated road/bike lane parking.
It would be interesting to know exactly who within the council/parking structure customarily keeps an eye on this zone.
I've had dealings with United Lodge in the past, they were providing temporary accommodation to homeless clients of mine on behalf of Haringey Council. The quality of accommodation at that time was extremely poor and I spent many a happy hour inspecting mouse droppings and overcrowding with a view to getting vulnerable families out of the place as soon as possible. If Haringey Homeless Persons Unit are still using them they may not want to be upsetting another council department for illegal parking.
