Best news all month. Hurrah!
There goes the waistline.
Well to this south Harringay fool, Paradise is the stand-out gaff on Turnpike Lane, and it's proper, earthy Indian food as well, not some poncey, over-priced grub. This is also on the wrong board... sorry! Regards, pedantic Paul..
Jashan is the best curry house in London imo . Very similar to the mystical Dropadi in south Goa ie serves the same style of food.
Those double boned lamb chops are truly something else.

Yes, they're pork.
pork ..... are you certain ..what makes you think that ?
of course they're not pork. I've been going there for a decade, and Jashan has had it's ups and downs, but even at its worst it was superior to an average Indian place, and at the moment it's close to being on good form. It's probably the Indian restaurant I've taken most people to and at least three-quarters rated it as the best they've had.
I used to sit opposite the food critic Matthew Norman, and while he guessed I knew a really good Indian restaurant, I refused to tell him the name or location, for fear a glowing review would mean I'd never get a table and it would change its character.
Not everything is to my exact taste, but the lamb dishes, the chicken kebabs, the pomfret and some of the veg dishes (smoked aubergine puree) are some of the best in the UK. It's hardly expensive with most mains at £7. Paradise is decent, good keema samosa, and ace seekh kebab, but it is a distant second to jashan overall.
Lahore Kebab, whose third branch is in Shopping city, has a few good items, but not enough to challenge Jashan.
Jason. OAE's having a laugh don't worry.
