Fears expressed last year that Transport for London could delay improvements to the Piccadilly Line upgrade seem to being borne out in reality.
Private sector contracts which existed prior to TfL's takeover of Tube Lines last year specified that the Piccadilly Line improvements would be finished by 2014. However, the Mayor’s transport authority said that its priority is to reduce the impact of line closures and construction work on passengers, suggested that it plans to let the deadlines slip.
The much needed upgrade for the Piccadilly Line is planned to increase the capacity of the line by 24% and decrease journey times by 19%.
