Just tried out a new Turkish restaurant which opened a couple of weeks ago around the corner from us. It's called UMUT OCAKBASI and is on the right just past Woodlands Park Road if you going towards Downhills Park.
They have the usual open barbecue and the menu seemed pretty standard but the quality of the food and the service should get Antiplier worried...
Loads of freebies - houmous, tsassiki, 3 different salads and a fabulous baked onion dish. The meat was great too.
Very kiddy-friendly - the waitress offered to sit with my son and explain the menu to him and then offered both kids smaller cutlery. And at the end, I got a complementary cup of tea, which always goes down well.
Give it a try while they're still ou to impress!

Yay! Another Turkish restaurant! Just what the area needs, there's not nearly enough of them.
..sorry..
Ha ha ha...
There's also a new Turkish BBQ every Sunday at The Finsbury - £3 a plate, saves cooking.
:)
It's at 46 Grand Parade in the middle of Green Lanes - correct spelling "Antepliler" (sorry!)
I really like it, have been back twice after discovering it only a few weeks ago so they must be doing something right! I know it's one of the more popular Turkish places along Green Lanes but have not yet tried any others so can't really compare. It does a really good mezze and I hear the baclava is very good.
Agreed - I'm not so keen on Gallipoli, I've had some bad meals there and there's never anything particularly unfamiliar or interesting to try - I guess it's much less authentic and a LOT pricier!
I did notice a new restaurant had opened in Islington also called Antepliler but with (I think) a different spelling so am guessing there is no connection. Anyone know?
