Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

My son was injured at school in march sustaining a head injury which required a ct scan at the hospital and on going treatment up to date, during this time he had to miss school for nearly three weeks and quite an amount of work as he was doing his A levels, when he went back to school obviously the teachers were collecting the work from the previous weeks which he did not have. To cut a long story short we had to go to a meeting and were told that because he had not handed the work in and had fallen behind he could not do his A levels as it was possible he would not make the grades and that would not be good for the school? so he would be better off leaving.

what should i do?.

Ooh touchy!

I am not getting too far into this argument, suffice to say that I have done the analysis of faith school results carefully and I suggest others get the spreadsheet of school results from the Dept of Ed when they come out each year and do the same. Those results show that when you look at the figures for SEN students at faith schools, they are considerably lower than those for proper schools.

Sorry you feel so upset that careful analysis produces this evidence. There are other things too - like free school meal ratios that appear to indicate that faith schools cherry pick where proper schools can't.

Not knocking it. Am all for elitism in education. However, in the case of the OP it was worth asking the question, because teachers know what tricks some schools do to make themselves look a bit better than others.

I won't name the private school here that chucks kids out when they start to fail - something I wholeheartedly agree with - but it ain't that far away from Haringey. However, in the case of a school hitting on someone just for being ill, that is just plain wrong.

BTW, the term is libellous. Mind, I am somewhat tickled to be told I am making statements without evidence from someone who believes in 'faith'. Some mistake surely! Trying to have our cake and eat it are we?

Now enough of this frivolity - can we return to commenting on the original post now, thank you.
