Can anyone recommend a local (church) carol service coming up before Xmas? One with cozy atmosphere (maybe candles) and good music - sorry but I am a once-a-year churchgoer and I love a good sing.

Maddy, It's a bit of a schlep but the Anglican church of St Thomas the Apostle in Finsbury Park was a wonderfully welcoming place when I lived over that way (even though I'm not a Christian) and the priest, Father Stephen, knew how to put on a show. I'm sure their celebrations will be lovely. I see that they will have Carols both tomorrow and on Monday.
The New Tottenham Singers will be holding a Carol concert at St Philip The Apostle Church, Philip Lane
Tottenham, London, N15 4HH on Saturday 18th December Tickets available on the door: £4 (£2 concessions). I am sure that you could join in with some of the old favorites. Maddy, if you love to sing you might want to consider joining us, we meet every Tuesday in the same church (this is a Secular Choir, not associated with any religion we just happen to meet in a church). The choir will regroup on 11/1/2011 and will be learning new songs and planning for future concerts - the same invitation warmly extended to all Harringay online readers.
Try St. Paul's Wightman Road. Harringay station end of Wightman Road.
It's High Church Anglican; so no problem about candles and Christmas decorations.
They also have a first rate organ.
