Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

One of the rarest beetles in the country has been found in Coldfall Wood in Haringey.

The Lesser Glow-worm (Phosphaenus hemipterus) has been found in three sites in the Muswell Hill wood.

Although it's a glow worm, unlike the more common British glow worms, this rare species doesn't glow.

It's the first time that the beetle has been found north of the River Thames. Till now, The British glow worm survey had recorded Phosphaenus hemipterus at only at a handful of sites in Surrey, Sussex and Hampshire and Kent.

Wow! Global warming hits Haringey. It is important to protect our wooded and green areas in the borough.
Exciting news! But a 'glow worm' that doesn't glow...? Does it do other stuff?
