Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

This morning I went to Fairlands Park following reports that there was broken glass on one of the pavements, dog mess at the base of the large slide and some sticks of a broken cabinet by the seat at the top of the slide.

When I got there, I saw that the reports, alas, were true.

Seeking to find out the best person to refer this to, I asked a couple of passing road sweepers whether the park came within their responsibilities. They said (correctly) that it did not, and that the matter was one for the parks department - but then they came in and cleared it all up anyway.

When we go on (sometimes quite rightly) about council services, we sometimes forget just how lucky we are to have some wonderful people who are doing a brilliant job.

I'm sorry that I don't know their names, but they know who they are.

THANK YOU!

The exact same thing happened to me at a little park on the Tiverton Estate a few weeks back - the Council put in this new playground last year but have yet to supply litter bins. Have phoned them to complain to no avail. Luckily, when I asked the street sweeper about it, he offered to clean it anyway.....

Should have got his name and written to the Council about him, but didn't think at the time.

Anyway, if anyone knows anyone in the Parks Dept, could they please remind them about the binless park behind the Tiverton Community Hut?!!!!
I'm delighted to hear that this excellent practice is so widespread.

On the question of the litter bins, I've just put in a member's enquiry about it and have copied it to Cllr Kober, who is the leader of the council and a councillor for Seven Sisters Ward, where the park is located.
