Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Now, I understand that the binmen (or domestic refuse collection agents or whatever) have to drive their truck down my road in order to collect my rubbish. I also understand that this, along with truck machinery and the movement of the wheelie bins to and from the truck will be noisy. I even understand that doing this early in the morning is necessary to try to avoid traffic issues. However, I think the least they could do is oil the wheelie bin hoisting mechanism so it doesn't emit a high pitched squeal every time it is operated. This was just a little excessively disturbing this morning and I could still hear it long after the other noises of refuse collection had faded into the distance. More importantly, not having oiled the equipment means they are probably damaging things that my council tax pays for. Hrrrumph. Rant over.

Ring the Enterprise switchboard on 8885 7700.
Yes, I will. Thanks.
That wheelie bin hoisting mechanism has more than squeaks and screeches up its pipes. Beware. There was a sudden extra-screechy screech here in Pembroke Mansions last month, as the pipe broke and it sprayed boiling hydraulic fluid under high pressure along a fifty foot length of the road. And my car. And my neighbour's car.

The Operatives did look a little sheepish. Must have been scary, if a softer bodied human had been in the way there would have been more than blisters.

I'm still waiting for the refund of the carwash charge, it has gone to insurers and will doubtless cost several hundred ££s worth of admin to get my fifteen quid back.

At least it was only oil. Picture the scene with brake fluid...
Enterprise is a company. The 'clowns' you refer to are their employees, not council.
I would feel a bit more sympathetic with noisy bin men if they were being subversive and created a lot of noise over in Highgate and tip toed around in Tottenham but the opposite appears to be the case.
Stan, are you as thoroughly nasty about the lower orders and lesser forms of being all day, or is it just at 6.15am?
Let's not get too carried away with laying in to the bin men guys. Perhaps a focus on constructive solutions? In most cases problems like this, where avoidable are a management/organisational culture issue. Perhaps, as Matt suggests, a call top Enterprise first then a review of the reaction and the result.
