Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

A quick reminder.

I nearly binned a letter from E.ON informing me that my "Extra Saver Plan" was coming to an end. Fortunately I didn't.

With the last deal ending, I was defaulted on to E.ON's most expensive tariff. 5 minutes on the phone has, apparently, saved me £275 a year.

So just a reminder, whether it's a case of checking for the best deal from your current provider or looking for a better deal elsewhere, it's worth spending the few minutes it takes.

Same thing happened to me with British Gas - my bill was going to go up about 30% but luckily I spotted the letter and changed tariff again, but I think it's only for another two years.
Now I've got to shop around again for car insurance as mine has gone up 20% this renewal, for no reason I can discern except that someone rear-ended me last Autumn - their fault entirely as I was stationary in traffic.
It's so exhausting all this trying not to spend exhorbitant amounts on necessities.
20%? I'm jealous! Someone came into the side of my car recently and drove off (though I was able to track them down with the help of a shopkeeper). It appears that they now deny liability and so the claim is unsettled. As a result, and even though the insurance co. have said they're pretty satisfied I wasn't at fault, my renewal notice shows my premium increasing by 200%.
OUCH!
A timely reminder. The energy spent in entering one's data into price comparison website can be well rewarded. I'm expecting shortly a £100 rebate on my combined gas & lecky bill, having been with the new supplier for 12 months. As my overall bill is anyway quite small, this fixed rebate is very significant in proportional terms. They have said it is an annual reduction.

It's worth noting that Islington Council have 'Islington Fuel Switch'. A completely impartial service, which is in actual fact not restricted to Islington residents.
I saw in the Green Living Centre on Upper Street that people are getting real savings, with someone saving £315 on their bills!

Also, any commissions made are going into fuel poverty projects in Islington, which has got to be better than Go Compare lining their pockets!
